How is Plugging in Changing Growing Up?

I know — it seems like this is all I talk about anymore, but I wanted to direct your attention to a special report airing on Anderson Cooper tonight. It’s called #Being13: Inside the Secret World of Teens. Academics and researchers tracked hundreds of eighth graders through their social media accounts over a two-year period to find out what exactly they’re saying to each other, how it affects them, and what we as parents can do to stay on top of the whole situation. It’s on CNN tonight (10/5) at 9:00 PM. Hope you’ll tune in — I’ll be watching with my own 13-year-old.

P.S. Being 12

P.P.S. This is dinner tonight.

Thank you so much for bringing my attention to this. I have a daughter in 7th grade and definitely want to watch this..I wouldn’t have thought to show it to my daughter- in the end do you recommend watching it with her? How did your daughter react?
would love your insight! Thanks! Melissa

I can’t imagine what it would be like to grow up with all the social media outlets now days. Kids literally have no idea what privacy means. Everything they do is shared with the world. Hard to imagine what cultural changes we’ll see over the next 25 years as these kids grow up and start having a significant influence on society.
