Well, you get the idea. Yesterday I packed up whatever spooky outdoor decorations had not been destroyed by the hurricane and rooted around the girls’ treat bags to see what was left: Some Crunch bars, an orange Tootsie Roll, peanut M&Ms, a bag of pretzels, and about 20 Peppermint Patties. So I did what any self-respecting mother would do: I broke out one of the girls’ brownie mixes (in this case Ghirardelli), nestled in some patties before baking (submerging them in the batter completely is key), then turned my enterprising eyes toward the rest of the loot.

I’m thinking some pretzel-y chocolate chocolate chip cookies are up next. What do you think?

I am curious to see how pretzels go into cookies…do tell! I am thinking of chopping up candy bars and laying them on top of a crust like rolled out crescent rolls along with nuts, marshmallows, and other sweet goodies. The moms in my hood call them “allergy bars” as in keep away from the nut free zone!

I love brownies baked in a cupcake pan with a mini peanut butter cup in the center. Use your favorite brownie recipe and pour batter into paper lined cupcake tins. Submerge a mini peanut butter cup into the center of each brownie/cupcake. Bake. I dare you to wait until they cool before eating 🙂

WHAT?! You are baking with your girls’ candy? My kids would be appalled, and so would my childhood self. Halloween was all about knowing that I had a ready stash of chocolate bars to eat (openly! without censure from my mom!) while laying on my bed reading, and my kids have a similar experience – all candy, all the time, till it runs out. (BTW, I’m sure the brownies are delicious…and I really enjoy your blog!)

My daughter and a visiting friend made Halloween candy cookies today with chopped Nestle Crunch and Milky Way substituting for chocolate chips.
We’ll use more for gingerbread houses next month.
Our favorites, we eat.

we usually save some candy for ice cream sundaes… chop up the snickers, reese cups and milky ways and use a toppings for a sundae bar. this was a hit at our son’s december birthday last year.

I made a peanut butter based ice cream and added a bunch of the peanut butter cups from the kids loot. With four trick or treaters, we have a lot of candy to use up.
