Three Things

Hi all. Sorry for the silence this week. Three things to say/ask today:

1) Those of you who read Dinner: A Love Story might remember the introduction about my friend Lori. She was the first mom I ever talked to who was really weighed down by her family dinner situation and the fact that she hardly ever cooked homemade food for her kids. The conversation we had at a Jewish deli in midtown, and the week I spent as her “dinner doula” pretty much launched the whole DALS operation. Well, in case you’re wondering where Lori is today, you can hear for yourself in “The Dinner Dilemma,” which is episode four of Real Simple‘s Labor of Love podcast. We had fun — I encourage you to give it a listen.

2) So it only took me four years, but I’m finally sort of up to speed on Pinterest. Many of you have followed my main board — Dinner: A Love Story Faves — but now, I’m happy to report I’ve organized others boards, by season, by ingredient, birthdays, kid stuff. I even have one dedicated to nothing but Books, Books, Books. I’ve only pinned about half my posts, but I’m getting there. Thanks to everyone who has been on me for this. Next up: A DALS App. I promise, or as Abby would make me say, “A mommy prommy.”

3) Lastly, to be filed under “a nice problem,” it appears the server I’ve been using for so many years is getting a little small for my traffic because at least once out of every three or four times I log on to this blog I get a message saying “Error Establishing Database Connection.” I have a favor to ask you guys: Will you let me know if you’ve gotten this message as well? And if so, has it prevented you from visiting? I find that I just have to refresh after about 15-30 seconds and it’s back up, but I know that’s an eternity in Interweb time, so let me know what you think. If this hasn’t been a problem for you, I’d like to know that as well. I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

I know I said three things, but I had to just throw this in, too. Happy Holidays Everyone!

No problems with your website from my end. Will be making both the matzoh lasagna AND the grilled leg of lamb from this site over the weekend! Now for a Sunday morning brunch idea….(overnight houseguests!)

I haven’t had a problem loading the site, although I usually only come on to read the new posts. Hooray for getting on Pinterest, I haven’t taken the time to pin my own posts yet, but someday! (I always say I’ll do it in the winter when it’s cold, but since I coach a winter sport I don’t actually have any of that cold weather free time).

No problems loading your site for me! Love your posts and recipes, as usual. Pomegranate Pork Loin w/ Cabbage is on tap for dinner tonight, and Grandma Turano’s Meatballs are on heavy rotation here as well!

I have no trouble with the site loading. But I read the posts in a reader and only occasionally access the full site for recipes. Which, by the way, we are in the middle of moving. I had to pack my cookbook collection and kept only five books out to plan meals from during the move. Two of them are yours! They are that often used in our home. Thanks!

I did get the “Error Establishing Database Connection” message just today, but I don’t think I’ve ever had problems before.
Thanks!

No problems accessing the site, though I will note that since the redesign it’s kind of a nightmare on a mobile phone. Excited for the app!

Haven’t had any issues with your site loading. Although you are in my “Feedly” feed, and that’s where I read your posts, mostly. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I check in a couple of times a week for new recipes and readings and I’ve never had any problems loading the page. Thanks for sharing!

I did have trouble getting to the site a couple days last week- same error message. Then tried again a minute later and it worked. Congrats on your over-trafficked server 😉

No issues with iPad. Just found the site a month ago and love it. We’re trying the Old School Chicken for Easter.

No problems establishing a connection here (Australia), whether from home or work computers or by mobile. I rarely get around to doing anything on Pinterest, but I may have to if you’ve got lots of new boards 🙂

I haven’t had that problem! Just signed on to find your rice pudding recipe. My 19 month old still won’t walk without holding a hand, and I think we’ve tried EVERYthing to encourage him… except rice pudding. Is it possible this will do the trick?!

I’ve never encountered that problem, but sometimes computers can be like cars. It might make a certain noise for you all.the.time but as soon as you get to the mechanic, nothing!

I usually take time on the weekends to catch up on your posts, and I’ve never had a problem visiting the site or received the error message you asked about.

No problems accessing the site. Now you have me wondering if there’s a tactful way to incorporate Peeps into our seder…
