Dinner: A Love Story, the Book

Three Things

By April 2, 201546 Comments

Hi all. Sorry for the silence this week. Three things to say/ask today:

1) Those of you who read Dinner: A Love Story might remember the introduction about my friend Lori. She was the first mom I ever talked to who was really weighed down by her family dinner situation and the fact that she hardly ever cooked homemade food for her kids. The conversation we had at a Jewish deli in midtown, and the week I spent as her “dinner doula” pretty much launched the whole DALS operation. Well, in case you’re wondering where Lori is today, you can hear for yourself in “The Dinner Dilemma,” which is episode four of Real Simple‘s Labor of Love podcast. We had fun — I encourage you to give it a listen.

2) So it only took me four years, but I’m finally sort of up to speed on Pinterest. Many of you have followed my main board — Dinner: A Love Story Faves — but now, I’m happy to report I’ve organized others boards, by season, by ingredient, birthdays, kid stuff. I even have one dedicated to nothing but Books, Books, Books. I’ve only pinned about half my posts, but I’m getting there. Thanks to everyone who has been on me for this. Next up: A DALS App. I promise, or as Abby would make me say, “A mommy prommy.”

3) Lastly, to be filed under “a nice problem,” it appears the server I’ve been using for so many years is getting a little small for my traffic because at least once out of every three or four times I log on to this blog I get a message saying “Error Establishing Database Connection.” I have a favor to ask you guys: Will you let me know if you’ve gotten this message as well? And if so, has it prevented you from visiting? I find that I just have to refresh after about 15-30 seconds and it’s back up, but I know that’s an eternity in Interweb time, so let me know what you think. If this hasn’t been a problem for you, I’d like to know that as well. I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

I know I said three things, but I had to just throw this in, too. Happy Holidays Everyone!
