Just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve been firing up the Weber all week long in preparation for…Grill Week!!! starting on Monday here on Dinner: A Love Story. So whatever your Memorial Day plans are — whether you’re feeding kids, grown-ups, kids and grown-ups, bosses, or just your own darling little monsters, come back next week for some inspiration. If you have any specific questions (such as “What do I grill for a Vegan?” or “Do you think Coach Taylor has a fighting chance to turn around East Dillon?”*) feel free to comment and I’ll try to work the answer in to the line-up next week. Have a great weekend and, as always, thanks for all the heartfelt feedback.
*If you do not know this reference, you are not allowed back to my website until you Netflix every episode of Friday Night Lights, seasons 1 through 4 (currently running). Free cookbook for first person who quotes Tami Taylor in a comment field.
“Honey, will you stop pacing please?”
Also: How thoroughly should one grill a vegan?
Gotta love grill season and Friday Night Lights- perfect combo. Being an English teacher I absolutely love the gems of wisdom that Tami comes out with. My personal favourite: ‘it’s part of my job, to make sure that you don’t grow up stupid. It’s bad for the world.’
I often quote this one at my pupils!
Keep up the fabulous blogging!
“The big deal is it’s part of my job, to make sure that you don’t grow up stupid. It’s bad for the world.”
Erin O – that is my favorite one! Though I almost wept reading all of these again. I think I need to re-rent entire first season. Thanks everyone for getting me all psyched up! CLEAR EYES…FULL HEARTS…!
Or there’s this one:
“Honey, don’t grovel it’s not becoming.”
I love the Taylors and think theirs is the best marriage portrayed on television.
“I just wanted you to wait.” Remember? To Julie? I loved that scene.
LOL! Some funny with my grilling…I like it! My biggest question is regarding seafood. When I grill fish or shrimp, I am so scared to undercook it that I overcook it. It never turns out right. Plus I am always looking for easy seafood dishes. Living in the midwest, we don’t eat enough.
Best,
Tina
P.S. Sorry, I don’t know the first thing about Friday Night Lights!
Tina – We have a few grilled fish meals in the line-up next week and will be sure to include tips on done-ness from Grill-Master Andy. I can also provide a full summary of every FNL episode if you would like to brush up…
Yay! Another FNL fan! We love the show and can’t wait to see how the East/West Dillion season goes! And poor Tammy caught in the middle! And that Mr. McCoy is so awful!
Oh, and love your website and am totally ordering your cookbook. 🙂
Can you please do something on grilled pizza?? we were just thinking fondly of an awesome grilled pizza at your place several yrs ago. Tonite we grilled up pork chops and really need some new ideas!!
PS-can’t do any Friday Night lights but can say…”yellowww..:”
Oh! I wish I had read this yesterday!! Tami Taylor rocks!! and so does FNL…I watched the season on direct tv and it’s pretty great…esp the first ep with the Tim Riggins shirtless shot…swoon!!!
