So this is fun. For those of you who’ve picked up a copy of my book, a) THANK YOU and b) you might’ve ogled the Franks-n-Beans recipe which we have been known to scare up for our Halloween launch party (alongside a healthy selection of bourbon, of course). In honor of the ritual and the season, longtime partner Applegate, maker of some of the best franks out there, has agreed to partake in a little giveaway contest. Comment below and tell me what you’ve made from the book (or hope to make from the book soon) to be eligible to win enough franks to throw a legit Halloween party and then some. One winner will be chosen and will win two packs of Applegate’s all-natural hot dogs (your choice), a copy of How to Celebrate Everything (if you already own, I will send to a friend), along with some freebie coupons and good old-fashioned Applegate swag. Contest ends on Sunday, October 23, 8:00 PM ET. Good luck! Update: The winner has been notified. Thanks to everyone for playing.

Franks and Beans!
Triple Berry Pie!
Anything and Everything… always love your books 🙂
I would like to try the potato gratin with gruyere
Loved the book!! Christmas is coming up and I’m definitely going to make the Cranberry Marinated Beef Tenderloin!
i would like to try making the Mud Cake soon!!
My sweet tooth is raging, so I’ve been eyeing the snickerdoodles and mud cake!! And we are having a hot dog and beer (Frank an’ steins) Halloween party, so applegates would be a delicious addition!
I’m still waiting for the book, but based on my experience with your other recipes, I bet they will all be wonderful. We love chickpeas and I see several people have mentioned a crispy chickpea with yogurt sauce recipe. That sounds great!
I am finally reading my book! It arrived before my 16 day road trip, traveled with me all the way, but I barely read it. I know I will want to try many of the recipes!
I would make the granola recipe.
Brown Butter Apple Pie!!
Planning on carbonara soon!
We loved the crispy chickpeas, and I’ve made the sleepover pancakes twice this week. I might have to make more chickpeas tomorrow since there’s leftover sauce . . .
I made the gnocchi and made a homemade pesto sauce!!
I’d love to make the triple berry pie!
I love your new book and have read it cover to cover! The most powerful sentence for me is on page 170-171. Like you, I think about this sentence a lot as we navigate these our crazy, busy days of soccer, cross country and band (school and homework too)…The sentence is a quote from your mother! “You just make sure that when those girls walk in that door every day they never doubt that home is the most comforting place for them to be”. Wow! That sentence drives every “Wednesday cake”, every Sunday dinner and dessert, every “streamers on your door for holidays and birthdays” and all other rituals that reinforce the words “home and family” to our children.. Comfort is a great “gift” to give our families. I’m looking forward to trying the mud cake! Sounds easy and delicious. Thanks!
The Apple Fritters are my new favorite weekend breakfast, and I’m baking Snickerdoodles for dessert tonight. Yum!
I would love to try the recipes for the Snickerdoodles, mashed potatoes and the mud cake!
I love your book–It is a small peek into your holiday rituals which reminds me to make sure to cultivate my own. I loved the ham recipe as well as the Thanksgiving menu which I plan to make.
So far I’ve made the cider braised meatballs, Abby’s gnocchi with homemade pesto (phenomenal!) and Rosa’s Mud Cake topped with strawberry frosting for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. And we’re just getting started!
I’m all about everything fall lately, /0 I want to make the brown butter apple pie!
Love your book. I plan to make the challah bread as well as the ham sliders.
Chicken chorizo chili! Although the franks and beans would be a close second! And parmesan mashed potatoes sound pretty interesting too!
I would love to try most everything in the book but the ritual we really need to work on is Thanksgiving so I love that section in particular! For whatever reason, as much as I love holidays, thinking about hosting Thanksgiving makes me want to plan a long run or bike ride instead! Thanks for the inspiration to celebrate all things — love the idea of the “Wednesday cake” too!
I’m hopeful for trying the gnocchi this weekend with my middle schooler!
Looks like a great time together activity
I’m planning on making the chorizo chili in my slow cooker on Halloween.
i want to make any recipe in your book! these recipes you’ve gifted us with are in all our rotations, for our family and for others.
