Three Dinner Menus that Shout “I LOVE YOU”

Here on the East Coast, it’s cooooold. Which means I’m guessing a lot of Valentine’s Day feasts are going to take place within the four walls of your own kitchens. Cold snap or not, you know I am a big believer in staying home on a night when all my favorite restaurant chefs seem to be lobotomized into thinking that steak au poivre and chocolate dipped strawberries are the only two things that people want to eat on February 14. If you are in agreement, but stuck on menu planning, here are a few directions you might consider:

The Traditionalist Menu

To drink: Manhattans (cocktail); Kutch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (wine)

To eat: Short Ribs, Pomegranate Kale Salad, Horseradish Whipped Potatoes

To indulge: Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes

The Modern Traditionalist Menu

To drink: Boulevardiers (cocktails); Tegernseerhof Gruner Veltliner (wine)

To eat: Cider-Braised Chicken, Baked PolentaBeets with Oranges and Feta,

To indulge: Homemade Chocolate Pudding (please add freshly whipped cream and serve in pretty bowls!)

The We-Couldn’t-Find-A-Babysitter Menu

To drink: Craft Beer (cocktail) More Craft Beer (dinner)

To eat: Sweetheart Pizzas, Nancy’s Chopped Salad

To indulge: Heart Cake (and kissy kissy emoji cookies, if you are lucky enough to live near One Girl Cookies)

STAY WARM!

It’s freezing where I am, and I’m looking forward to some couch time and movies. My daughter has never seen Emma before, and I can’t wait to watch it with her. My husband and I are going to (finally) watch Bridge of Spies.

I love your recipes and your posts, and I hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day.

We always cook at home on V day. No sense fighting crowds when we’d rather enjoy our families and make our own dessert! Definitely going with your can’t find a babysitter menu! Delish!
